The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn
I can’t believe I have to go home to Nebraska for my sister’s wedding. I’m gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least my bestie agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight than me. Then his plane got delayed. And finally—because bad things always happen in threes—instead of my best friend, his evil twin strolls out of the airport.
If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst—even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans.
Ten times worse? My buffer was supposed to be there to keep me away from the million and one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs us up for every. Single. Thing.
Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? I’m in. I can’t wait to take this guy down a notch.
But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, our bickering starts to feel like more than just a game…
USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband, and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip. She lives with her family (including the dogs Gravy, Pepper, Tater Tot, and Eggnog, who are either sleeping or guarding the house from squirrels as well as the cat, Dwight, who is totally plotting world domination) outside of Washington, D.C. She loves to chat with readers. You can email her at email@example.com and join her reader group, The Flynnbots, on Facebook!
Can you tell us a little about your publishing journey, please?
Sure! Like most romance authors, I was a huge reader and I had an idea about the kind of book I wanted to read but couldn’t find something that fit. That’s when I decided to try to write my own. It wasn’t easy, but that book was published and I’ve been writing ever since.
How do you decide who to dedicate your books too?
Usually it centers around the theme and inspiration of the book.
What was the inspiration behind your latest release?
With social media and the general nature of humans, I wanted to explore what it was like when a person got so caught up in making their life seem perfect that they couldn’t even tell their family the truth. Add in some general shenanigans, a sexy billionaire, a three-legged fox and a wedding set on a ranch and BAM! You have The Wedding Date Disaster.
Do you find it hard to let your characters go when you finish writing the book?
Oh absolutely! That’s why the end of the books are always so hard for me to write.
What was your favourite read of 2019?
Last year it was definitely The Undercover Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams. This year I cannot tell you enough how much I love Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. OMG. It’s fantastic!
Who is your favourite author?
What, you want me to pick my favorite kid next? No way! I love them all but some of my absolute auto buys are Sarina Bowen, Kit Rocha, Helena Hunting and Kate Meader.
Was there a point in your life that a book helped you get through, if so which one?
Wow. That is a great question and as a reader there have been about a million. Books are just pure magic in written form. They make me think. They give me hope. They empower me.
Is there anyone that you would like to mention and thank for their support of your writing?
Honestly, there is no way I could do this without my family. They are amazing and put up with me even when it’s deadline time and I am officially the worst person ever.
If you had the power to give everyone in the world one book, what would it be and why?
Reading is so uniquely personal and subjective that I don’t know that I could give everyone the same book. I think it would be whichever one makes them go to their happy place. We all deserve a little more time feeling happy right about now.
What are you working on now?
I’m finishing up a really fun three-book set that will all be released on the same day in December. For binge readers like me, it’s so cool not to make anyone wait.
Lastly, do you have any questions for your readers?
I always want to know what my readers are reading. We are all book nerds and we are always on the hunt for our next read!
