Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay

Review by Kelly Lacey

Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay

Once in a while, a book comes along and it hooks your right from the start. You have that moment of realisation that this book is a bit different. That is the experience I had when I started Every Last Fear.  I loved everything about the book, the cover, the plot and the exquisite writing style.

Up ahead I am going to talk about the plot, but only including info from the blurb. If you like to go in blind to a book then skip ahead a few paragraphs.  So the book starts with Matt Pine receiving the devastating news that his family have been found dead whilst holidaying in Mexico. Therein starts the rollercoaster that is this book.

There is not one chapter that doesn’t have your brain flip-flopping. I loved this about the book it is never dull and it engulfs your senses. The writing is fast-paced and the characters voices are unique and well written.

My favourite thing about the book is the structure. It is very different and I loved it. Fans of true crime documentaries and true-crime fiction will enjoy seeing things from the other side. Alex Finlay has great skill at setting the scene and placing us the reader as a ghost amongst this cast of varied characters.

This book has raced up to the first place of my 2021 reads. I just had one complaint and that was that isn’t long enough, I didn’t want it to end.

If you want a book to take you on an unforgettable, exciting and emotional journey. Buy Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay today!

University student Matt Pine has just received devastating news. Nearly his entire family have been found dead while holidaying in Mexico. The local police claim it was an accident, but the FBI aren’t convinced – and they won’t tell Matt why.

The tragedy thrusts his family into the media spotlight again. Seven years ago, Matt’s older brother, Danny, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his teenage girlfriend. Danny has always sworn he was innocent, and last year, a true crime documentary that claimed he was wrongfully convicted went viral.

Now his family’s murder is overlapping with Danny’s case, Matt is determined to uncover the truth behind the crime that sent his brother to prison. Even if it means putting his own life in danger, and confronting his every last fear.

Read this gripping thriller, perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter and Lisa Jewell.
