REVIEW:

Write Your Book in a Flash – The Paint-by-Numbers System to Write the Book of Your Dreams— Fast  promises a lot in a quick read and delivers on its promise. The author, Dan Janal, provides the template for success, and, at the same time, models exactly what he has set out to teach. Why write that book that’s been bouncing around in your brain? Because it will add clout to your business and bring you business.  He emphasizes that your penned manuscript  might not bring the big money, but what you offer within the book—in Mr. Janal’s case: ghostwriting, editing and book coaching—will.

Write Your Book in a Flash was written with non-fiction authors in mind. I’m now thinking of all the “how to” ideas I’ve had over the years and am curious about trying Mr. Janal’s techniques and seeing where it leads to me. However, as a fiction author there is plenty to pay attention to. There are countless how-to books out there better suited to writing fiction, but something about the perspective from a different genre altogether impressed me with ideas I may have heard before but clearly ignored (probably because they weren’t new and I’d heard them before). This is part of Mr. Janal’s template. What does your book offer that others don’t? Why should I read your book when there’s literally an endless list of other possibilities? If you celebrate those two ideas in your book blurb, you are already ahead of the curve.

I literally dogeared (gasp—I know) at least a dozen pages of ideas, suggestions and aha moments.  My favorite is to develop the book blurb and synopsis before you even begin to write. How better to know the story or information you want to tell? Mr. Janal also includes plenty of  savvy editing tips such as using text-to-speech and have your computer read your book to you.

Write Your Book in a Flash is well worth having on your shelf.
