Angie Shepherd is back and this time she means business!
Life is perfect for Angie Shepherd. Her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur have come true, business is booming, and her best friend Patty is back in town. So when the opportunity of investing in a luxury hotel comes up, it seems like a no-brainer. It’s all going swimmingly until a rival travel agency opens up across the street. Before long, The Mercury Travel Club is undercut, double-crossed and in deep trouble. It’s time for Angie to up the stakes. But with costs mounting up, sales going down, and her personal life suddenly in freefall, can Angie and her friends weather the storm?
Witty and charming in equal measure, this feel-good novel shows that when the going gets tough, the tough definitely get going.

Just under a year ago I had the privilege to write the review of The Mercury Travel Club by Helen Bridgett, and now I get to review her sequel novel The Heat is On. If you have read book one, you will be delighted that the full cast of characters is back with their goofy antics and eye-rolling gullible and lovable personalities. If you haven’t read Ms Bridgett’s first novel I’d give it a go because it will set the stage better (pun absolutely intended).
Round two for Angie and her crew find life has reached its pinnacle and the only place to go is…… down? One look at the Thelma and Louise-ish art on the cover and you know Angie won’t let roadblocks get in her way; she will only build her mountain higher! The cover is as whimsical as the story, with nuggets of what you’ll find inside. I liked The Heat is On even more than I did Mercury because I felt I got to know the characters even better. The settings within the story are also more exotic than before, which is a definite plus for me.
So grab some colourful shishi drink, head for your chaise lounge, and settle in for a little guilty pleasure reading. I can’t think of a better way to whittle away the hours on a summer day.
