Welcome to my blog Michael, so happy you’re here today to answer my questions and for the readers to learn about your book Miles Of Files out now.

About The Book

Michael J Sahno

In Miles of Files, the main character, Paul Panepinto, an employee at Flambet Insurance, learns that his manager Graham Woodcock is stealing from the company. Paul struggles with whether or not to report the boss at the risk of losing his position. Eventually, Graham fires Paul anyway and Paul is forced to pursue justice, but the story doesn’t end as expected. Readers move through a fast-paced adventure with many twists and turns, including high points, drama, comedy, and an edge that Sahno captures through his writing.

My Q&A with Micheal J. Sahno

Describe yourself using three words?

Scorpio Dragon Novelist. Oh no, did I actually write that down?

What inspired you to write your first novel?

In chapter one of Brothers’ Hand, the protagonist gets his hand chopped off by a speeding locomotive whilst under the influence of LSD. Learning to live without his right hand is a bit like an alcoholic learning to live sober…something I know a bit about. I didn’t set out to write a metaphor for recovery, but that’s ultimately what happened.

What time of day do you like to write?

I’m an afternoon or evening kinda guy; definitely not a morning person.
What is your favourite book and why?

Sophie’s Choice by William Styron. I thought the movie was magnificent, but then when I read the book, I understood why people had been disappointed in the movie. It’s a masterful novel.

How did you pick the title of your book? T

The phrase “miles of files” appears in my second novel, Jana. I think it was inspired by the Joni Mitchell album Miles of Aisles. I liked it so much, I decided to use it as the title of my third novel.
Are the characters in your book based on real people?

No. There are some characteristics of certain people that inspire aspects of some characters, but that’s about it.
What’s your favourite word?

My brother and I are pretty fond of saying the word doily. Say it out loud a couple times. Could anything be more inappropriate-sounding for what it’s supposed to represent? Doily. Come on, tell me you didn’t at least grin.
If you were a colour what would it be?

Probably red, but I’d like to be black because, you know, black is cool.
Do you plan your story beforehand or go with the flow?

I go with the flow. Then I get stuck and have to go back and do some planning.

Who is your favourite Author?

I know I mentioned Styron for favourite book, but my favourite author has to be Honoré de Balzac.
If you could give any literary villain a happy ending who would you chose?

I wouldn’t. I’d put Scrooge in prison for being a greedy old coot. That’s how I roll.

Are you working on a new project?

I have two novels in embryonic stages. The big news is the collection of short stories I’m putting together: I’m going to give them away as a free e-book for anyone who’s on my email list.
Do you have any upcoming events our members can attend?

I’m in the USA, so, unfortunately, probably not. However, I’m open to doing some online events in the near future, so anyone who wants can contact me at and I’ll respond as soon as I can!
